Trijmpeter Hornbill

A heavily built hornbill of forest and woodland, this species has a long, curved casque on the top of its bill. It feeds mainly 011 fruit and insects found in the trees, and normally occurs in small flocks. JtiVENMJ

• NEST a natural hole in a tree. The female seals herself in by plastering the entrance with a mixture of mud and droppings, leaving only a narrow, vertical slit. The male brings all the food for the female and the young. All birds leave the nest at the same time.
