Painted Bunting

I his species deserves its reputation as the most colorful bird in North America. It is extremely shy and retiring, however, and can be difficult to locate, except when the males arc singing. It feeds on a variety of seeds, as well as on insects and their larvae.

Breeds in S.E. USA and Mexico. Winters in Central America, Bahamas, Cuba, and
